“I have enjoyed working with pets and their families for 15 years and understand the value of a pet to a family and the joy they bring to a home. Having personal experience with a need for home pet care for my own pets and not finding something that fit our needs, led me to open my own home visit business named “Happy Tails”. Dog daycare seemed like a natural progression because not all dogs are alike and some require more stimulation and supervision. That, along with the need for a unique pet-themed retail store in the area, was the inspiration for Country Dogs - a store for pets and the people who love them!”

"Happy Tails", a home based pet care service, opened in 2000 at a time when we noticed there was a distinct need for home pet sitting services in Clinton and surrounding towns. A one person business quickly became a 5 person team of dedicated professional pet care professionals. It was a great option for working families who wanted someone they could trust, check on their pets in their own home, during work time and also when they went on vacation.

"Country Dogs" original location opened in 2012 in Bolton, MA. This dog daycare and pet-themed boutique originated when the need for a daycare in Bolton and the surrounding towns became apparent. A charming daycare in a country atmosphere, which provided a wonderful place for dogs to make friends, play, and socializes with other dogs was warmly welcomed by the dog lovers in Bolton. Within 2 years, our building was sold, and plans to expand had changed. It was clear that we needed more room to accommodate the growing number of dogs coming to daycare.

What Makes Us Different?

Because our owner Karen Newsham, has always been involved in the daily operations of the business, her caring about the dogs is a big part of our definition. She and all of the staff here are completely invested in getting to know your dogs and providing them with the best experience possible. We have an organized schedule during the day so the dogs have a familiar structure. The dogs are crate-free for the majority of the day with the exception of nap time and when they first arrive while each playgroup is planned for the day. The store provides holistic and human-grade dog food, which supports our belief that good food leads to good health. Our dog toys and treats are carefully selected to promise your dog has only positive experiences from our store. Last and best the daycare has a brand new, beautiful fenced-in outside yard. We welcome dogs of all sizes at this facility. We do it all. With a high standard of care, we provide daycare, home care, transport service, and overnight boarding to our daycare customers. Our ethic is to provide superior, satisfying service to your best friend and, of course to you!
